Excrusions
In addition to the scientific program, there will be an excursion afternoon with several options for participants. The excursions are free of additional charge and listed below. Note that several of the activities have maximum numbers of participants, so we will use first come first serve. In the registration system you will be asked to choose your alternatives.
Any accompanying persons will automatically be assigned the same excursion as the corresponding participant, unless you contact Conference Secretariat and inform them about any changes in this regard: pme46@services.edu.haifa.ac.il.
EXCURSION 1. THE BAHA'I GARDENS AND STELLA MARIS MONASTERY
This tour provides spectacular views of the Baháʼí Gardens and Haifa. The guided tour includes the history of the Baháʼí, religion, and the significance of the Gardens. The tour includes 750 stairs from the upper terrace to the lower terrace in the German colony and is not suitable for those with walking difficulties. After the Gardens we will tour the Stella Maris Monastery and proceed to the Cave of Elijah the prophet. We will then walk to the beach at Bat Galim, and take the cable car back to the point in Stella Maris.

EXCURSION 2. ART AND FOOD IN DOWNTOWN HAIFA
This will be a guided walking tour of the streets of downtown (Lower) Haifa, a fun and vibrant section of the city. The tour is about urban renewal and street art and includes food tastings of local treats.
This tour will last about 3 hours.

EXCURSION 3. NATIONAL PARK AND PORT OF CAESAREA
A tour of the gardens and port of historical, seaside Caesarea, a coastal ancient city to Haifa’s south. The tour takes you through the archaeological sites that have excavated the construction enterprises of King Herod, from the 1st century BCE (before the common era). You will encounter reconstructed sites as part of an impressive and innovative visitor center. You will visit the synagogue complex, the Crusader Wall Promenade, the Sea Promenade, the hippodrome, the theatre, the Shonit Palace, and the bath house.
This tour will last about 3.5 hours.
EXCURSION 4. A TOUR OF THE OLD CITY OF NAZARETH
Nazareth is a city perched in the Galilee mountains, to the northeast of Haifa and is a center for Israel’s Christian community. This walking tour of the old city of Nazareth will include sightseeing, heritage and religious sights (including churches), and of course, food tasting.
This tour will last about 4.5 hours.

EXCURSION 5. THE OLD CITY OF ACRE
The old city (a coastal city to Haifa’s north) is a historic walled port-city. This tour of the old city of Acre will include history along with modern day tales of Acre. The guide will explain about the history of Acre as participants walk through a Templar tunnel and regale participants with local stories of Acre. Participants will visit an Acre food market where they can taste local hummus and other local foods.
This tour will last about 4.5 hours.
EXCURSION 6. CULTURAL TOUR IN DALIYAT AL-KARMEL
Daliyat Al-Karmel is a Druze town on the Carmel mountain range. This tour combines culture and art, with heritage and history of Druze society, and an authentic tour that also includes tasting authentic, hand-made Druze pita.
This tour includes walking up steep hills and navigating uneven streets.
This tour will last about 3.5 hours.

EXCURSION 7. SURFING AT THE BEACH
For the water sports enthusiasts, you will participate in a two-hour surfing class taught by a professional surfer. Afterwards, you can rest for another hour in the complex.

EXCURSION 8. URBAN PRODUCT DESIGN AND PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR THROUGH THE DOWNTOWN AREA
Urban products affect our daily lives and connect us to the public spaces we visit. The tour will present unique Israeli urban products accountable for the city's outstanding qualities. During the tour, the participants will learn to take exquisite photographs on their smartphones, accomplishing a complete outdoor touring experience in Haifa's scenery.
